Hellenic Petroleum S.A. operates in Greece and the Balkans in the energy sector. The company’s activities include refining and marketing of oil products (R&M); exploration, development and production, of hydrocarbons (E&P); manufacturing and marketing of petrochemical products; and power generation and trading. Segments The company’s segments include: Refining, Marketing, Exploration & production, Petrochemicals, Engineering, Natural gas, and Electricity. Refining The Refining Segment represents the company’s primary activity. In Greece, the company operates refineries in Aspropyrgos, Elefsina and Thessaloniki. In Skopje it operates the OKTA refinery, which covers 85% of the requirements in the Former Yugoslavic Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). Marketing The Marketing segment engages in the marketing of petroleum products in retail through the subsidiary company EKO ABEE. Through 1,360 gas stations in Greece, EKO ABEE provides services to drivers even in the most remote location. EKO ABEE has facilities for storage and distribution of liquid fuels, 4 bottling facilities for LPG products and a modern unit for the mixing and packaging of high technology oils. Through the industrial and commercial sales, it supplies industries with fuels and technical sites with lubricants and asphalt. With its LPG facilities in Aspropyrgos, Thessaloniki and Preveza, it covers domestic and industrial usage. In the aviation sector, EKO ABEE is acquiring new clients and airline companies, apart from the Olympic Airlines. Through the exports department based in Thessaloniki, it distributes petroleum products, LPG products and lubricants in countries in the Balkans and in Southeastern Europe. The company has developed significant activities in the trade of liquid fuels, primarily in countries of Southeastern Europe, such as Georgia through ÅÊÏ- GEORGIA, Ltd, in Serbia, EKO-YU-AD-BEOGRAD, in Bulgaria, ÅÊÏ-ÅLDÁ BULGARIA EAD and in Albania, GLOBAL PETROLEUM ALBANIA. The company has expanded in Montenegro through JUGOPETROL AD KOTOR, as well as in Cyprus through HELLENIC PETROLEUM CYPRUS. In total it has a network of gasoline stations in approximately 170 retail spots abroad. Exploration and Production The company operates abroad, through joint ventures, for exploration in three areas in Albania, with the Austrian company OMV and in six on-shore regions in Libya with the Australian company WOODSIDE ENERGY and Spanish REPSOL, where it has set up local offices to facilitate direct project management. Petrochemicals The company has the petrochemical complex in Greece, which operates on an integrated basis with the refineries. The installations are located in Thessaloniki and have storage and distribution facilities for petrochemical products, as well as a complete sales network. Engineering The company operates in the field of engineering through its subsidiary company ASPROFOS S.A., the engineering and consulting company in Greece and in southeast Europe. The company provides special services for industrial investments, such as project management, studies and construction supervision. Natural Gas The company has 35% interest in the PUBLIC GAS CORPORATION (DEPA S.A.). DEPA S.A. has been established to transport and distribute natural gas in Greece. DEPA S.A dynamically participates in the layout of the energy supply system in the Balkans and the European Union. Electricity The company undertakes the construction and operation of the Power Plant of 390 MW total capacity in Thessaloniki Industrial Facilities, through its subsidiary THESSALONIKI ENERGY S.A. (T-POWER). Strategic Alliances Hellenic Petroleum SA, in July 2008, had signed a deal for entering a strategic alliance with Edison. The two partners would form a 50/50 holding company that would be an electricity operator in Greece, with a power generation portfolio of 1,500 to 2,000 megawatts (MW) and power trading and marketing activities. In March 2009, Edison Group SpA and Hellenic Petroleum SA have established the ElpEdison joint venture in Greece.
