Organización Soriana, S.A.B. de C.V., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the commercial retail business in Mexico. The company’s main business is the sale of grocery products, perishable goods, clothing, and general merchandise to the general public through its supermarket stores. The company operates various formats of supermarket stores and markets various food, clothing, general merchandise, health products and basic household services under retail, medium wholesale and wholesale schemes. The company operates stores in various formats, such as Hyper, Markets, Super, Express, City Club, Mega Comercial Mexicana, Comercial Mexicana, Bodega Comercial Mexicana, and Alprecio. The company also operates convenience stores under the name of Super City in a combined regime operated primarily by own stores and a few franchises. Furthermore, the company performs real estate business activities comprising leases of commercial premises adjacent to each store as part of the commercial area, and conducts commercial developments. In 2016, the company established a partnership with S.A.C.I. Falabella (Falabella) for the joint venture of a business of specialist stores focused on the home improvement and construction materials in Mexico, by constituting the company Sociedad Distribuidora de Mejoramiento del Hogar y Construcción, S.A.P.I. de C.V. (Sodimac Mexico), and the opening of the first store of this type of format in the country is expected by the second semester of 2018. As part of the partnership, in parallel, in 2017, the implementation of a financial business commenced, which consists of offering credit services and products and financial services, which would be provided at both the new stores of Sodimac Mexico to be developed, as well as at all the current formats of the company, through Sociedad de Facilidades Multirotativas, S.A.P.I. de C.V. In 2017, loans were granted at the formats of the company through the operation of 45 financial modules, which as of December 31, 2017, were located at the different formats of the company for the origination of credit cards.
