The company has working interests in four blocks in the Gulf of Mexico, two as operator (Blocks 9 and 15) and two as non-operator (Blocks 7 and 10). The company has an exploration agreement (operator 100% WI) on the largest block offshore Suriname. The company operates an exploration license on block C7 (90% working interest) offshore Mauritania. The company was awarded eight licenses offshore Israel in 2019. The company is the operator of the licenses with a 33.34% WI alongside two JV partners: Ratio Oil Exploration (33.33% WI) and Pharos Energy Plc (33.33% WI). In September 2021, the company, together with consortium partner, Cheiron, acquired a portfolio upstream oil and gas production, development and exploration interest from Shell in the Western Desert onshore Egypt. History The company was founded in 1980. It was incorporated in 2002. The company was formerly known as Cairn Energy plc and changed its name to Capricorn Energy PLC in December 2021.
