It operates nine production factories, eight in the Peoples Republic of China (PRC), and one in Surabaya, Republic of Indonesia, producing dry freight containers, collapsible flatrack containers, open top containers, Chlorofluorocarbon free refrigerated containers, bitutainer containers, other specialized containers and container parts. It also operates 11 container depots and terminals, eight at the major ports in the PRC - Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Xiamen and Shunde; two in Hong Kong; and one in Laemchabang, Thailand. In addition, it operates a midstream company in Hong Kong and a logistics company in Xiamen, the PRC. Segments The company is organized into three operating segments: Container manufacturing, Container depot/terminal, and Mid-stream. Container manufacturing segment: This segment manufactures marine dry freight containers, refrigerated containers, collapsible flatrack containers, bitutainer containers, other specialized containers and container parts. Container depot/terminal segment: This segment provides container storage, repair and trucking services and serves as a freight station, container/cargo handling and other container related services. Mid-stream segment: This segment provides mid-stream services in Hong Kong. Marketing Offices The company has its marketing offices in Cecil Street, Singapore and Shanghai, China. Acquisitions During 2004, the company made the following acquisitions and disposals: The company acquired an additional 30% equity interest in Guangdong Shun An Da Pacific Container Co., Ltd. (a dry freight container manufacturing factory in Shunde, Foshan, the PRC). The company acquired an additional 40% equity interest in Tianjin Singamas Container Co., Ltd. (a container depot in Tianjin, the PRC). The company disposed 23% equity interest in Xiamen Xiangyu Singamas Container Co., Ltd. (a container depot in Xiamen, the PRC). Geographical Markets The company’s principal geographical markets include Europe, Hong Kong, the United States, Peoples Republic of China (other than Hong Kong and Taiwan), Taiwan, and Singapore.
