H&R Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) operates as a real estate investment trust. The REIT, as of December 31, 2008, owned and operated a portfolio of 280 Properties, of which 34 are office properties, 124 are industrial properties, and 122 are retail properties. The total leasable area of the Properties comprising the REIT’s portfolio was approximately 41.3 million square feet. The portfolio consisted of 28 properties located in Alberta, 112 properties located in Ontario, 17 properties located in Quebec, 27 properties located elsewhere in Canada and 96 properties located in the United States. The REIT has an 80% interest in a joint venture to develop approximately 1.6 million square feet of industrial property in Mississauga, Ontario on approximately 72 acres and owns 98.6 acres of development land forming part of the planned community of Mayfield West located in Caledon, Ontario. History H&R Real Estate Investment Trust was founded in 1996.
