About OHB

OHB SE (OHB) operates as a space and technology company. Business Units Space Systems This business unit’s activities encompass satellites, manned spaceflight, exploration and security/reconnaissance technologies. Another focus is developing and implementing payloads, scientific equipment and devices for aeronautics/aerospace, research institutes and industry. Thus, OHB System AG develops, builds, launches and operates low-orbiting and geostationary small satellites for scientific applications, communications and terrestrial observation. Earth Observation: The main business activities and applications of OHB System (Oberpfaffenhofen site), entail Earth observation and satellite navigation, as well as scientific payloads and the testing of new technologies. Human Space Flight: The manned space flight segment includes work on constructing the International Space Station ISS/Columbus and fitting it out with research equipment. Exploration: Exploration primarily entails research of outer space, particularly the moon. Reconnaissance satellites and broadband radio transmission of image data form the core of the security and reconnaissance activities. Aerospace MT Aerospace is as main contractor with 10 percent work share mainly responsible for the fuel tanks and metallic structural components of the ARIANE 6. In addition, MT Aerospace and MT Mechatronics have been closely involved in the construction of all launch facilities for the six ARIANE generations, as well as the SOYUZ launcher at the space center in Kourou. In this regard, the company has positioned itself as a significant equipment provider for aerospace structures for aviation and space travel and, amongst others, is Germany's largest supplier to the Ariane 5 programme and an established manufacturer of sensitive components made of highly heat resistant nickel based alloys and titanium for aircraft engines. Electronic data transmission systems deployed throughout the world additionally provide global logistics support through efficient transport management and shipment tracking. Core Segments Ariane Rocket Program MT Aerospace AG is the largest German supplier of components for the successful ARIANE 5 program, producing 10% of the hardware, including booster casings and tank domes for the central and upper stages. The company also provides a wide range of services to the European space station in French Guiana, contributing significantly to the reliability and competitive position of the ARIANE launcher. Furthermore, MT Aerospace is a trusted partner for prestigious ESA projects (e.g. ATV – Automated Transfer Vehicle) and commercial satellite platforms (Alphabus and Small Geo). Aviation and Defense Products Via MT Aerospace, the company plays a crucial role in both passenger transportation and air cargo. The company is a market leader for the production and assembly of CFRP water and waste tanks and a main supplier to the Airbus fleet. The military freighter A400M features central input and output manifolds for the ventilation of the heat exchangers, as well as cladding for the aircraft hull supplied by MT Aerospace. These components make a crucial contribution to MT Aerospace’s efforts to organically extend its successful aeronautics activities. The winding technology is used not only for producing light-weight tanks but also for fabricating the CFRP engine cladding for guided missiles. In addition, special insulation components are built for the hot gas segments of missiles. OHB Digital The OHB Digital business unit leverages direct space capabilities and ensures the transfer of technology to selected industries. Alongside the two business units Space Systems and Aerospace, which focus on the development, production and launch of space systems, OHB Digital addresses the usage and operating period of satellites. Globally available sources of information are enhanced by proprietary capabilities, while integrated services for specific customer applications are generated. Examples include the installation of ground segments, the operation of infrastructures, the provision of software solutions for IT security, cryptography, development and maintenance of antennas and telescopes for astronomy, station control technology for energy supplies, the provision of global ship positioning data for the maritime sector, protection from compromised navigation information and earth observation services for climate, environment and ecology. Digitization Security OHB Digital Services OHB Digital Services is a member of the Alliance for Cybersecurity. The experts offer independent advice, as well as an uncomplicated and agile approach using acknowledged and proven tools and methods. Ground Segments and Satellite Operation OHB Digital Connect GmbH Ground segments for space systems are used to control, monitor and operate satellites and to provide services. OHB Digital Connect GmbH specializes in antenna locations, control centers, management systems and the entire IT infrastructure. Requirements arising from earth observation, communications, navigation and science for individual missions and constellations form the starting point for robust and secure systems, which are also innovative and user-friendly. Bremen-based company, OHB Digital Connect, had only recently pooled its expertise through its merger with Mainz-based antenna manufacturer MT Mechatronics, which is also part of the company. The Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has placed a contract for the regeneration of mobile ground stations for the German federal armed forces’ satellite communications system (SATCOMBw). PCS for Deutsche Bahn Teledata GmbH The Process Control Systems (PCS) unit at OHB plays a key role in the reliable monitoring and management of the electric traction power supply for trains across the entire network operated by German railway company Deutsche Bahn (DB). Services: PCS specializes in the automation of railway electricity supplies. OHB System develops, assembles and installs the systems required for this purpose, providing maintenance for them throughout their entire life span. Teledata GmbH is the leading systems partner for Deutsche Bahn and an acknowledged systems architect and technology leader. The company offers its customers IT security solutions related to process control technology to shield them from attacks. Of course, the company also offers customer-specific advice on the automation of technically complex processes, as well as the comprehensive application of the IEC 61850 standard with complete fulfilment of the defined requirements. AIS for Global Shipping LuxSpace: LuxSpace is a leader in AIS data services. Based in Luxembourg and a member of the OHB Digital business unit, it offers a 24/7 data service that makes it possible to track ship movements worldwide in close to real time. For this purpose, LuxSpace uses positioning messages (automatic identification system (AIS) messages), which ships are under a duty to transmit. The positioning messages are picked up via a terrestrial station network or via satellite. Location Based Services With GIDAS OHB Digital Solutions: OHB Digital Solutions is a proven expert in processing GNSS signals and extracting information from them. The GIDAS product monitors the GNSS frequency bands to detect intentional or unintentional interference.
